Job Title: QA  Tester

Rate:$28-/hr(No flexibility) 

Minimum 2 years' experience in software testing including testing converted data sources and ETL processes. 

Specific tools include HP ALM (test management, defect tracking). Experience with ETL tools (although we do not have specific tools identified yet for this project). These are included in the attached job description. 

POSITION PURPOSE 

The Conversion QA works under the direction of the Test Lead and Test Architect. The Conversion QA works with the conversion team to assure thorough testing of converted data from all data sources for the Customer Touchpoints project. The Conversion QA designs and executes functional tests for converted data, logs defects and retests corrections. This position works closely with the Test Data Specialist to ensure the accuracy of data selected for manual and automated test scripts. 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Collaborate with the Test Lead and Test Architect to determine best standards and procedures to be used in the test data management process. 

• Ensure adherence to standards and procedures related to test script development, testing methodology and documentation. 

• Advocate for testing best practices among the team to minimize test fragility. 

• Provide analysis of key data conversion criteria, document the testing environment and create the required test scripts. 

• Work with the conversion team to functionally test converted data. 

• Verify data mapping for new fields and source field names for each data source to the target database. 

• Create test cases and map to requirements and test conditions. 

• Understand test goals and dependencies to ensure risks are effectively tested. 

• Ensure that QA process is adequate, documented and communicated to ensure agreed quality levels for the application. 

• Partner with Business Analysts to ensure data requirements are met and accurately tested.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 

• Minimum 2 years experience in software testing including testing converted data sources and ETL processes. 

• Thorough knowledge of Oracle SQL. 

• Knowledge of large data set testing and conversion testing techniques 

• Knowledge of ETL processes and tools. 

• Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance and testing methodologies. 

• Good skills in written and oral communication, including communicating technical information to non-technical audiences. 

KNOWLEDGE 

• Knowledge of terminology and interpretation of project development concepts and methodology. 

• Knowledge of the Software Development Cycle. 

• Knowledge of database concepts 

• Experience with HP ALM (Quality Center). 

• Thorough understanding of testing principles, values, and practices. 

• Passion for learning and evaluating new technologies. 

• Working knowledge of PC and local area network connectivity, including peripheral devices and software compatibility issues. 

• Knowledge of personal computer and software testing tools. Including, but not limited to HP Test Tools, Crystal Reports, Web Browsers, Java, SQL and M/S Office Suite 

SKILLS 

• Skills in computer systems, including Microsoft Office. 

• Good analytical and problem solving skills 

• Skills in organization and prioritization. 

• Skills in making decisions independently within established guidelines and with minimal supervision.
