Job Description:
Project and related application development are part the bank's providing management and regulatory reporting functionality in the areas of risk and compliance. Operational Risk Reporting application is beginning development and two Credit Risk application projects are nearing design phase. This data architect position will work closely with these projects and follow-on risk application development participating in full project life cycle. The candidate would have the opportunity to be involved in the design, architecture and development of many aspects of the Corporate Risk Data Warehouse utilizing Oracle sql and pl/sql, data warehouse / ETL tools and Unix Scripts. In addition to design and development, this candidate is expected to be a lead technical resource for this division helping to set standards and practices for production support and maintenance of technical disciplines such as these that are new to this department. Ideally this candidate will also have previous well rounded experience with business application development as well as recent solid concentration on data warehouses, ETL processing and business intelligence tools. The data warehouse ETL processes will interface with numerous Northern Trust corporate transaction systems to gather information for the warehouse.
 
Technical Skills
o Understanding of Data Assets and Data Flows in order to represent Data Lineage, Data Relationships, and linkages
o Good understanding of the Infosphere deployment Architecture.
o Experience with Import Export Manager to import metadata from external tools into the Information Server Repository
o Manage metadata assets using istool and Information Server Manager
o Metadata repository tool administration, including routine trouble-shooting, user permission roles and security maintenance, performance monitoring and usage monitoring
o Good understanding of the Glossary taxonomy concepts such as Categories, Terms, defining relationships between assets, External Assets/mappings and well versed with maintaining Business Glossary and Taxonomy
o Experience in ETL tools such as Data Stage, Informatica, etc
o Experience in Database Knowledge such as Oracle, DB2, UDB, File System, HDFS, NOSQL,
o Exposure to Operating Systems such as Unix/Linux/MVS
o Experience with Programming basics in Java, Cobol, JCL, SQL, Scripts, BIG Data (Hadoop)
o Experience in Data Warehouse projects is a plus
o Understanding of Data Models, Schemas, DDLs,
o Usage of Excel advance features
o Exposure to XML
o Exposure to File Transmissions
o Data Analytic skills
o Trouble Shooting on the Data Gaps
Business Skills
High Level understanding of the System/Application Knowledge, System Interfaces
